Today, the urgent care business is much different than it used to be. Not long ago, reimbursements were fair and supported the continued profitable operation of our centers with only minimal pressure from competition. That is decidedly not the case today.  Independent urgent care centers are being severely squeezed by payers or acquired by large corporate urgent care enterprises and hospital systems. I felt there had to be a way for successful independent practices to survive and thrive. Single specialty networks and group purchasing organizations allow independent centers to compete on a level playing field with the corporate giants. This was the catalyst for the formation of the UCI Network. I am convinced that our membership will continue to expand in the months and years ahead and that they will profitably thrive in the communities they serve.

  • Dr.Shufeldt’s Bio

    John Shufeldt founded one of the largest pure-play urgent care networks in the country in 1993 and was the company’s Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board until 2010. Over his 17-year history, he has identified, tested and implemented best practices in urgent care and he is recognized as an industry leader. He has opened more than 50 urgent care centers over the course of his career and has a complete understanding of the intricacies of urgent care operations and management. Dr. Shufeldt is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine. He received his BA from Drake University and his MD from the Chicago Medical School. He went on to receive his MBA and Juris Doctorate degrees from Arizona State University. His certifications include Fellow, American Board of Emergency Medicine and Fellow, College of Legal Medicine and American College of Emergency Physicians.

    Angie Inlow earned her BA in Business Administration and Business Systems from California State University Long Beach – College of Business Administration in 1997.  She is a resource, innovative and highly motivated healthcare thought leader with over twenty years of healthcare experience.  Angie has extensive experience in a plethora of healthcare delivery modalities including sales and marketing, practice management and EHR implementation, operations, contracting and credentialing, IPA management, MSO development, payer and provider relations, health information technology, and service development and integration.  Angie joined UCI Network to ensure independent urgent care centers prosper and grow. Her dedication to ensuring successful results and her relentless drive to support practices is much needed in this volatile time. We are excited to have Angie join the UCIN team and look forward to supporting your practice.

  • Mr. Dean’s Bio

    Glenn Dean brings over 20 years of entrepreneurial and Fortune 500 business management experience to Urgent Care Integrated Network. He received his MBA in strategic planning, finance and accounting from the University of Washington in 1992, earned his CPA certification, and is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, the international honor society for collegiate business schools. Glenn has held executive management positions in finance and operations in a variety of industries including financial services, technology, health care and more specifically urgent care where he has been employed by several leading urgent care organizations in a financial or development capacity. He brings experience in business strategy development, operational design and implementation, finance and strategic planning, and mergers and acquisitions. Glenn brings to UCIN the rare combination of extensive financial experience combined with an astute urgent care operations and industry acumen.

    Sybil Yeaman earned her BA degree from Cleveland State University. She has devoted the majority of her career to the healthcare industry, both on the managed care side as well as operational roles supporting the providers of healthcare. Sybil was responsible for the development of a regional ophthalmic and surgical center network. She also served as the Regional Operations Director for a multi-specialty ambulatory surgical center corporation. Her current passion is to support urgent care businesses in reducing their costs of doing business while actually enhancing the quality of their service. Sybil recognizes that UCIN must work for our members and reduce their costs not only in products and services but also by eliminating the need for managers to negotiate, compare and establish vendor agreements. As COO, she sees herself and UCIN as an extension of your team. We are privileged to have Sybil Yeaman on ours.

    Amy White has been actively involved in the urgent care industry for over ten years. She has been a valued and responsive resource to physicians, owners, administrators and staff as a recognized industry expert in areas of operations, teleradiology, marketing, human resources, business and network development. Amy began her career in the banking industry but was attracted to the urgent care sector as she realized the tremendous potential for “on demand” medical care. She has an intimate understanding of the challenges associated with successfully managing an urgent care business and recognized early on that physicians and administrators valued support services such as UCIN so that they might focus on their core competency of providing great medical care for their patients. Amy received her BA from Brigham Young University and an MBA from Grand Canyon University.
